About Me
Jiaming Shi (Jamie) is a Los Angeles–based cinematographer who graduated from Loyola Marymount University’s Film and TV Production program.
His background began in directing and visual storytelling, but over time he became increasingly drawn to cinematography because of the way cinematic visual language can shape emotion, rhythm, atmosphere, and the audience’s relationship to a character.
As a cinematographer, he is interested in creating images that feel natural, immersive, and emotionally precise. He is especially drawn to the relationship between light, space, movement, and human vulnerability.
For Jiaming, cinematography is not only about making beautiful images, but also about translating the inner world of a story into a visual experience. Creative inspiration is essential to his process. His visual language has been shaped by films, paintings, photography, natural light, architecture, collaboration, and hands-on production experience. Each project allows him to refine the kinds of images he is attracted to and how those images can serve story and performance.
